10:45 am: He had a job. 10:51 am: He didn’t. Welcome to the Doom Drop.
A couple days ago, one of my private mentor clients was “downsized” from his job. On Monday at 10:45 a.m., he had a job. At 10:51 am, he did not. No warning.
Now, it’s a funny thing when you get “released” unexpectedly. Could be a job, a dating relationship, even a marriage. Suddenly, you’re on the tallest “drop tower” at the amusement park from hell.
Round and round you go, down and down you go … every possible emotion comes crashing in as you drop, drop, drop: Shock. Rage. Fear. Defiance. Rejection. Anxiety. Bitterness. Helplessness. Inadequacy. Panic. Misery. Even Shame.
… And all served up in the 17-second whoosh to the bottom.
And – to add insult to injury – you’re sure you hear the cackles and jeers from onlookers as you swoop past.
Your “Reasoning Mind” is having a heyday with this sudden “judgement call” against you.
It knows this is a rare opportunity - a one in maybe three or 7-time chance in your life (including not getting picked for dodgeball in 4th grade) that it gets to shake you down.
Remember, that resident paradigm of yours - the way you usually and habitually think, feel and act - will always go to great lengths to keep you settling … because that’s “safe.” It wants you under the bed with the dust bunnies, never to emerge again. Small. Quiet. Inevitably beaten. Easier to control you that way.
The LAST thing you want to do is listen to THAT voice!
The fact is this: What happened is just a fact. For better or worse, richer or poorer, it’s a fact. It happened.
What you choose to FEEL and THINK NEXT … THIS is the absolute key.
Because the fact is this: THEY’RE not in charge of the trajectory of your life.
YOU are.
YOUR choice.
YOUR trajectory = YOUR choice.
This, my friend, is what your PERCEPTION is all about.
Your perception will shift the entire trajectory of your life … and it starts with looking at the option to strap – or not strap – yourself into that Doom Ride.
Here are 3 quick tips to just say “no” to the Tower of Doom Ride
💫 Any time you experience a major disruption, understand this: The vibrational alignment between you and that thing (aka, a job, a person or people at the job) was off. Admit it: It was just off.
Remember, you’re a bundle of quantum physics in motion - energy interacting with energy around you. Either you’re aligned energetically or you’re not.
This kind of misalignment can happen in moments of time. It’s common in longterm relationships or a job setting when the day just goes sideways - that’s to be expected. But when the occasional moment in time becomes more frequent, even chronic … you’re in significant energetic misalignment.
So … if you really look at this thing, you’ve been feeling it for awhile. You really want to stay stuck in that place for years? Really?
🦄 Take heart and pride in the “square peg-ness” of you. You have skills, talents and abilities that are entirely unique to you … and they’re nowhere in that combo in any other living human being. When you begin to remind yourself of all those abilities (friends and peers are great for this exercise, too), you come to see that THIS previous, demised relationship wasn’t a perfect fit for you.
And, there’s a greatly improved, much easier energetic match to your skills, talents and abilities out there … waiting. The longer you stay on your Doom Ride … the longer you stay under the bed… is the longer you keep YOU waiting.
I encouraged my client to listen to two songs : Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” (particularly helpful when you wake up the next morning vaguely remembering that something is supposed to be making you feel really bad).
“It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me … and I’m feeling GOOD!”
And the second song … I warned him … may come across as some sort of a “screw you!” song but it’s not at all. It’s a “taking-back-your-power” song: The Eagles “Already Gone.” And here’s the line that is such a gem:
“Sometimes it often happens that we live our lives in chains … and we never even know we have the key.”
YOU have the key. YOU choose your perception.
Trajectory of your life, my friend. You’ve got all the power. So, walk away from that Tower. And get clarity on what’s your better fit next!
