Marketing Mondays: Self-Promotion Tips for Writers (& Any Entrepreneur)
Holding it back doesn't help anyone
About a week ago, I was asked to be a guest on John Tynan’s popular radio show, “Everybody’s Got a Story.” He’s focused on helping writers and authors through the process of creating great stories through editing, publishing and “surviving the journey.”
I was pulled in for the “surviving the journey” part as he asked me to provide my biggest - and easiest - tips and hints that writers and authors can do to actually PROMOTE their written work … you know, that dreaded “marketing” word.
Although it’s a big leap for writers to step into promoting themselves, they certainly aren’t alone. Just about every entrepreneur I’ve met in ANY industry has the same issue. In fact, they can be running a multi-million dollar business and STILL face the same issue.
What’s the easiest, most leveraged way to create vast visibility for yourself?
Well, it’s not about falling prey to the crazy-expensive “all-in-one” solution so many online tech “experts” are trying to snare you with.
In this 50-minute interview here:
John and I peel back the commonplace mentality … i.e., “IT’S SO HARD!! I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS!! IT COSTS SO MUCH MONEY!! I DON’T EVEN KNOW IF ANYONE WILL BUY ONE THING FROM ME!” with real-world, proven solutions that create the end result you’re looking for.
… Because aren’t you doing this thing … writing your solution … creating this widget … creating a better way in any industry … because you want people’s lives to be better?
In this interview, we discuss:
The only 3 ways to increase your income in ANY business.
Dumping the expensive “all in one solution” hawkers because it’s really not that hard to promote yourself or your business.
Why easy joint ventures are your fastest way to an expanded audience (and how easy they are to set up).
Why keeping all of your great content to yourself until the day you publish your book is the worst way to go.
Getting down to why you’re REALLY stalling on promoting yourself (I call this “paddling around the harbor”).
How you can promote without a website … and when it’s necessary to have one.
Why the dreaded social media is now an easy one-stop option for massive audience appeal (and this way is free).
How much you really need to be posting in any social media platform you choose. (Notice I said “any,” not “all 19 of them.”)
Why it’s so important to build your own audience of email subscribers and the fastest way to put that in play.
This month’s case studies on expanding reach AND monthly income by simply thinking out of the “marketing” box – including a daily text subscription genius, a chef-turned-blogger, and my own forays with my “Conversations With Bob Proctor” book, a single Christmas letter that created hundreds of new email subscribers, a book and an online course, … and the one-time podcast guest I hosted that’s now turned into a new revenue-stream podcast, book and ongoing consulting business.
And lastly: Why it’s time to stop worrying about what other people think of you.
In the radio show with John Tynan, I talked about the easiest way to grow your audience exponentially: finding already-existing pools in complimentary businesses. I explain this in much greater detail in my complimentary 45-minute Masterclass, Joint Ventures = THE Most Significant Revenue Maker You’ll Ever Add To Your Business.
Just go to my website to see the entire Masterclass on multiple tips, ideas and launching points to your easy self-promotion (no matter what your business is). It’s here:
